Our season-long celebration of the Baker Community Center centennial anniversary concludes with a diverse program of music performed by eight members of another St. Charles treasure – the St. Charles Singers.
With piano accompaniment and under the direction of the choir’s founder, Jeff Hunt, members of the St. Charles Singers will present a varied program that connects with both the choir’s origins and its outlook for future musical explorations.
Repertoire for the concert may feature English and French Renaissance madrigals; folk songs and part songs on the theme of nature; SCS-commissioned works by contemporary composers such as Sir John Rutter, George Shearing, and Charles Forsberg; selections that touch on the jazz idiom; and a set of American music appropriate to the Baker Center centennial. The participating singers will curate the program, offering insights and anecdotes into the ensemble selections and solo selections. (Note: check back soon for photos and bios of participating singers.)
What better way to wrap up our season than with a twin salute to a St. Charles architectural landmark and a beloved musical ensemble!
