Maureen Christine, accompanied by well-known saxophonist Michael Bazan and other talented musicians, covers a range of time and territory in “Your Hit Parade – Global Edition.” The concert showcases popular hits of artists and composers from various spots around the globe. Enjoy songs made famous by England’s Julie Andrews, Britain’s Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Australia’s Helen Reddy, Missouri’s hit maker Burt Bacharach, and British-Australian singer Olivia Newton John, among others. To add to the variety, the program includes famous light classical selections from Italy and Paris, with a sprinkling of jazz standards to round out the musical potpourri.
The original radio and TV program, “Your Hit Parade,” shaped American musical tastes for nearly 25 years during the mid-20th century. Maureen Christine and her quartet update the concept with “Your Hit Parade – Global Edition.”
Maureen Christine is a national recording artist and an engaging singer with a “lovely, sweet voice and a beautiful way with ballads.” She has been heralded by the Chicago Tribune as a “singer worth crowing about!” Maureen has opened for Helen Reddy and Willie Nelson, shared the stage with Barry Manilow, and has sung the National Anthem for the Chicago Cubs, astronauts and dignitaries, and feature movies. She received Grammy consideration for her CD “My Romance,” and received an award for first place in the nation for her original song for United Way.
Michael Bazan is a respected music educator and professional musician. He is in demand as a saxophonist, and has played for renowned artists such as Cab Calloway, Billy Eckstine, The Four Tops, and Frankie Valli. Michael also played on all the soundtracks for the children’s television series VeggieTales.
Maureen and Michael will be joined by some of the finest musicians in Chicago who will lend their talents and complete the quintet. Together they will bring this spectacular musical program to life!
